German Music Festival Pummelled by Severe Summer Storms

Rumble A large music festival in southern Bavaria had to be called off on Saturday, August 19, after a severe storm tore through the site, causing extensive damage and injuring dozens of people. Ten people were admitted to hospital after the storm swept through the Chiemsee Summer Festival Friday night. In a tweet, police said that it had been the biggest challenge faced at the festival in its 23-year history. Three people were killed and many more were injured in the storms that hit southern Germany and Austria, with a state of emergency declared in Lower Bavaria’s town of Passau.
