Paddle boarding seems to bring a whole meaning to the term “extreme sport” recently. A video has emerged from the US of two paddle boarders encountering a great white shark right under their paddle boards. The footage, captured with a GoPro camera in Santa Barbara, California, on July 25, shows a huge shark swimming right next to the paddle boarders.

''The great whites are currently penetrating the Central Coastline and we had to check it out at Santa Claus Lane beach,'' the filmer later wrote online. ''The largest shark we saw was at least 8 ft. and the smaller juveniles were probably around 6 feet,'' he added.

“I need to get outta here” says the woman, as the man slowly paddles in the direction of the shark, as it swims closer to shore. The beast seems to be scouting the area, as it is seen swimming slowly and deep below the surface.

It seems that aquatic sports enthusiasts on the beaches in California have had their have had their hands full in the past period. The Orange County Sheriff's Department helicopter captured footage of a school of great white sharks in the shallows near shore, with people still in the water. The Deputy on board broadcasted instructions to the swimmers to calmly head back to dry land.
