More than 200 hostages from the northern Afghan village of Mirza Olang were released on August 8, according to local news reports. Islamic State and Taliban militias released the villagers after four days following efforts by tribal elders, the same source said. Militants attacked a security outpost in the Mirza Olang area on August 6, torching 30 houses, and killing at least 50 people, most of them members of the largely Shia Hazara community, according to a Reuters report.
