A suspected waterspout churned over Lake Erie before a severe thunderstorm swept ashore into Buffalo, New York, on Friday, August 4. The National Weather Service had yet to confirm the waterspout, according to a news report. Officials said the damage had been from straight-line winds rather than a tornado, so they could not confirm the waterspout yet, the report said. The storm knocked down trees and power lines once it came ashore in Buffalo. This video was taken from the Ontario side of Lake Erie. Credit: Instagram/Jolie Roetter via Storyful
