Brian and Molly Pierce knew the moment they laid eyes on Hattie, that they had to adopt her.

They had already set the adoption process in motion to adopt a 16-month-old little girl from China, but it was Brian’s connection to the little girl with a cleft palate that confirmed the Pierce family found their daughter.

As a child, Brian had several corrective surgeries for his condition, so he knew the challenges that Hattie would face.

In a remarkable coincidence, the surgeon who performed all of his procedures as a child was the mentor for the surgeon who would end up doing Hattie’s surgeries at the very same hospital – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Brian hopes to be a source of support as his daughter grows up because he’s lived with the same health challenges.

Now that Hattie is four, the Pierces are happy to announce their little girl is a happy, well-adjusted young lady.
