Chen Tuanzhi was born with 'backward-bending knee,' which left her unable to walk.

Her family Xiamen from China were too poor to pay for corrective treatment.

She was forced to use her hands to move her body along the ground and people in her village referred to her as the 'Crawling Girl' .

But after stories about the young appeared in local media, donations were made to allow her to get medical treatment from specialists in Taiwan.

She underwent seven operations and 10 months' treatment at Taiwan's Tzu Chi Hospital and was able to walk for the first time.

Chen now proudly stands at 4ft tall, 30 centimetres taller than she measured previously.

Despite her disability, this brave warrior managed to gain a place in her local school and is now at college studying social work and management.

You go girl, keep shining like the bright star you are.
