One proud father did not let his disability throw shade on his daughter’s special day and he made the world know it! Alexandre José da Silva lost use of both his legs years ago, but that didn’t stop the 79-year-old from pushing himself on his knuckles down the aisle at his daughter’s graduation from law school.

His daughter Rosany Caetano graduated in law at Piaui State University in northeast Brazil in April, but the footage of the family with the brave father was released just recently and has garnered viral fame almost instantly.

The footage shows Rosany in her graduation gown, with her mother Maria in one hand and her father on the other side, as they walked slowly toward the podium for Rosany to pick up her degree. The farmer, who was using the knuckles on his left hand and a small stick as a makeshift crutch in his right hand to swing himself forward, says he was very surprised at the welcome, since this is how he normally got around anyway.

Alexandre has not been able to walk since the age of 15, when he got spinal problems that were left undiagnosed until the damage was irreversible. The people present at the graduation didn’t care though, so they met the family with standing ovation.
