People Gather on Beach As South of France Wildfires Force Evacuations

Thousands of tourists and residents in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region evacuated the area throughout the night of Tuesday, July 25, as firefighters tried to contain a wildfire burning near Bormes-les-Mimosas. Local newspaper Var-Matin reported that at least 3,000 people camping on the Cap Benat peninsula were evacuated as the wildfire spread to over 800 acres. Tourists at the Camp de Domaine, in Bormes-les-Mimosas, were asked to leave the resort on the morning of Wednesday, July 26.
