Narendra Damodardas Modi is the 14th Prime Minister of India, leading the Bharatiya Janata Party to impressive victories in 2014 and again in 2019. Became the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time as an MLA.
Similarly, he became the Prime Minister of India directly for the first time as an MP. Modi is credited for BJP's majority victory in 2014, the first time since 1984.

Modi was born in a Gujarati family in Vadnagar, in his childhood he used to help his father in selling tea and later also ran his own tea stall.
Modi came in contact with RSS at the age of 8 and from here began a long association with the organization. He joined BJP in the year 1985.
After a long stint with the RSS, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and his political career gained momentum when he was elected Chief Minister of Gujarat.

in 1960
In his childhood, Modi helped his father by selling tea at Wahnagar railway station. Later he started running a tea stall with his brother near the bus stand.
in 1967
He completed his higher secondary education in Wahanagar. He left due to family tension. Modi spent nearly two years traveling in northern and north-eastern India.
in 1975
Narendra Modi was appointed General Secretary of Gujarat Lok Sangh Samiti by the RSS. Modi was forced to go underground to avoid arrest during the Emergency. He was involved in the printing of pamphlets opposing the government.
in 1978
Became a divisional pracharak of RSS, he started taking active part in the programs of the Sangh in Surat and Vadodara.
in 1979

in 1985

He was elected National Secretary of BJP and moved to New Delhi. He led the election campaigns of Haryana and Himachal Prades.
Modi was promoted as General Secretary (Organisation) of BJP in 1996.
in 2001
Keshubhai Patel's health deteriorated and the BJP lost some state assembly seats in the by-elections. The national leadership of BJP handed over the command of Chief Minister of Gujarat to Modi in place of Patel. On 7 October 2001, Modi was sworn in as Chief Minister of Gujarat.
On 24 February 2002, he won the by-election in Rajkot-II constituency. He defeated Ashchin Mehta of Congress by 14,728 votes. This was his first and very short deadline.
in 2002
In 2002, he contested elections from Maninagar and registered a resounding victory. He defeated Ojha Yatinbhai Narendra Kumar of Congress by 38256 votes. He was also selected for the second term as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
in 2007
Modi's third term as Chief Minister began on 23 December 2007 and was completed on 20 December 2012. This time again he won from Maninagar. He defeated Dinsha Patel of Congress.
in 2012
Modi was again elected from Maninagar. This time he defeated Bhatt leader Sanjeev by 34097 votes. He again took oath as Chief Minister for the fourth term. He later resigned from the Assembly in 2014.
2014 Narendra Modi is elected as the 14th and current Prime Minister of India. Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister of India on 26 May 2014. He became the first Prime Minister born after India's independence from the British Empire.
