Rumble A group of horses stranded in flooded paddocks were walked to safety by residents as inclement weather forced a state of emergency in Dunedin on Saturday, July 22. The New Zealand Police urged people to stay indoors as much of the South Island was affected by severe storm weather. The state of emergency was in force in Christchurch, Selwyn, Dunedin, Waitaki and Otago, while Christchurch was on high alert after the Heathcote River broke its banks, News 1 reported.
