An aerial view of Calgary, Alberta, seen from an ascending plane on July 18 reveals a city cloaked in thick smoke. The smoke is the result of at least 20 wildfires burning in the neighbouring province of British Colombia. Dr. Jason Cabaj, medical officer of health for the Calgary zone, told the Calgary Herald, “it’s likely patient loads at city hospitals and clinics increased due to the smoke.” Over 45,000 people have been displaced due to the British Columbia wildfires, according to CBC. On Tuesday, residents of Cache Creek, one of the first communities evacuated were allowed to return home. Credit: Instagram/_japinder via Storyful
