Snow fell at sea level in New Zealand’s lower South Island on July 12, a rare occurrence in the mostly temperate country. New Zealand media outlet Stuff.co.nz reported flight delays in and out of Christchurch as well as road closures as a result of the chilly conditions. National weather bureau MetService warned of a “significant weather event”, saying the “combination of heavy rain, snow and strong winds is expected to cause widespread disruption to transport.” Credit: Twitter / Paul Le Comte via Storyful
