This is the heartwarming video of a man rescuing a beached baby dolphin by carrying it back into the water. Most beached dolphins can only survive for only a few hours on land before becoming dehydrated, especially in warm or hot climates.

Beached dolphins often end up stuck on the sand and are unable to return to the ocean because they are incapable of walking on land. Given their massive size, they soon start to have difficulty breathing when beached on shore.

Tour guide Naude Dreyer of Pelican Point Kayaking spotted a juvenile Benguela dolphin stranded on a beach in Namibia and leapt into action to save the cetacean, as seen in this video uploaded on Wednesday, June 8. Dreyer carried the dolphin back into the water where it made a quick getaway.

Immediately after this generous kayaker spotted the unfortunate baby dolphin beached on the sand, he rushed in to lend a helping hand, and the daring rescue was captured on camera in this wonderful clip. When Naude stumbled across the beached baby Heaviside dolphin he decided to pick it up and return it back to the sea.

Reportedly, Heaviside dolphins tend to not get very big but can grow up to 6 feet in length. These dolphins are found off the coast of Namibia and South Africa, and are social creatures that swim in groups of five to 10. Despite of its massive size, Naude managed to pick the cetacean up and struggled to carry it to the sea.

Watching Dreyer saving the unfortunate baby dolphin back to the safety of the sea is more than satisfactory! Faith in humanity restored!

‘I’ll do a drive past the same area again later just to make sure he hasn’t returned again’, says the kind man.
