Rays Prey on Crabs During Molting Season

Spider crabs congregate in countless numbers off the coast of Australia during molting season, typically in sheltered bays and areas. This video was filmed in Port Phillip Bay, near Melbourne. During the time after leaving their old shell, they are vulnerable as their new one has not yet hardened. As a result, they are easy targets for some big rays.
