These glasses really take the biscuit: Life-changing moment man seeing color for first time
You and I might not think twice about it, but for this 25 year old man colorblind man, a pair of tinted eye glasses managed to change his entire world. Literally!
This is the life-changing moment 25-year-old Alex Gruetzmacher saw color for the first time and shouted ‘oh my god, chocolate looks different’. Alex received a pair of EnChroma glasses from his friend Heather Hill and once he put them on, he couldn't hold back the tears of joy when he began differentiating the colors around him.
Alex can be heard repeating “holy s***” over and over, while comparing the colors around him, with and without the glasses. He is amazed by the color of the flowers and the pink flowers pots they are in. Before the glasses, they all looked gray to him. Even chocolate looks different now!
Check out this similar video on Rumble of an artist getting a pair of Enchroma glasses as well. No matter the age or occupation, people all over the world have had their lives changed with the invention and subsequent wide distribution of the EnChroma glasses.
As written on the EnChroma site: “Color blindness affects millions of people worldwide. It affects 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women. The condition ranges from a variety of classes, red-green color blindness being the most common. Most people who suffer from color blindness are not blind to color, but have a reduced ability to see them. Color blindness is also called Color Vision Deficiency (CVD).CVD can be acquired, but most are inherited genetically. The genes that influence the colors inside the eyes, called ‘photopigments,’ are carried on the X chromosome. If these genes are abnormal or damaged, color blindness occurs.”
