The Pittsburgh Zoo is caring for a premature calf born in early June to Seeni, an elephant at the International Conservation Center in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Seeni wasn’t producing milk, so the female calf was whisked off to Pittsburgh. The zoo team is feeding and sometimes even sleeping with her while watching carefully over her health. On June 16, the calf had her first bath in a kid-sized pool. In a video taken by her caretakers, the calf plays in the water while being sprayed down with a hose. The zookeepers say she is “spunky” but has a “long road” ahead. The as-yet-unnamed calf won’t be on public display for some months, but the zoo promises to post updates and has started a blog for the baby. Credit: YouTube/Pittsburgh Zoo via Storyful
