Bathing Beauty: Marie Prevost

Canadian born Marie Prevost (1896-1937) found fame with Mack Sennett's Bathing Beauties after working as a legal secretary in Los Angeles. A natural prankster, Prevost won audiences over as a comedienne. Making a series of poor romantic decisions, Prevost seemed to meet the love of her life on the set of Fitzgerald's The Beautiful and Damned (1919). Unfortunately Prevost's drinking took hold of her, and her marriage to gambler and womanizer Kenneth Haran ended in 1929. A lover to director Howard Hughes and friend to fellow Bathing Beauty Vera Steadman, Prevost developed a fear of cars and died alone in 1937.
