Oil Rig Runs Aground in Scotland Following Storms

An oil rig ran aground on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland on August 8, after reports of stormy weather and rough seas. A tug was transporting the semi-submersible drilling rig, Transocean Winner, along the west coast of the island when it encountered severe weather. Local authorities and Marine Scotland were notified, and were monitoring the scene.There were no personnel on board the rig at the time of the incident.A resident of the island, Andrew Macleod, recorded the rig from his home, and its immense size is clear in this video. Police monitoring the scene are visible in his video.
