If you thought carrying a backpack was hard enough while travelling, try transporting a piano. Aspiring actor Dotan Negrin was not afraid of a challenge. He decided to sell all his possessions, buy a truck and set out around the world with the only two essentials he needed - his adorable dog, Brando, and a 500-pound upright piano. Five years later and the adventurous duo have visited over 300 cities in 21 countries, sharing his love of music with people from the US, Mexico, Canada and Europe and he is not stopping anytime soon.

In this video Dotan decides to shake up a busy street in New York. And there’s not a lot that will cause a New Yorkers to lose focus on their busy commutes, but this improvised curbside piano masterpiece manages to turn a lot of heads. He sits on a chair ready to start his virtuous solo performance by saying ‘Here we go’. Then we hear a lady from a taxi nearby replying ‘So cool’. He goes to the taxi and they high-five. That’s a great impetus to start a mini street piano concert.

Dotan runs his fingers lightly over the keys in legato play where the notes are smooth and connected and later on he pounds on the keys in forté. He gets carried away with the music as his whole body makes feathery movements of a person fascinated by something bigger than himself. It is totally frantic and powerful and it seems like his fingers are moving so fast that the music becomes so fluid. Every note of the tones is weaved with such beauty that even the people watching him have this blissful smile on their faces while they take pictures or record videos of the ‘concert’.

This street performance is only a reminder of how special music and art can be because even though we too have two arms and ten fingers, we cannot even come close to melting the keys of a piano like he does.
