Rumble Hurricane Matthew’s destruction in North Carolina killed 11 people and left more than one million people without power over the weekend of Sunday, October 9. While the southern state reported winds of 80 mph, lower than the 120 mph winds that battered Florida, North Carolina’s vulnerable coastal areas experienced flooded highways and damaged shorelines. In this drone video, a truck attempts to navigate the floods in Kill Devil Hills on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, a strip of islands that also saw damage in 2014 from Hurricane Arthur. As of Monday, North Carolina was preparing for the possibility of even more flooding as the storm retreated into the Atlantic.
