A member of Vetpaw (Veterans Empowered To Protect African Wildlife) called Suzanne Boswell snapped this footage at the Limpopo province in South Africa of a fully grown elephant successfully fighting off a group of rhinos so that he can to enjoy a snack.

A group of onlookers witnessed the animals squaring up to eat a bunch of grass during a drought, when the elephant came and threw dirt, sticks, and even charged at the rhinos before they eventually fled the scene.

Suzanne says that it was unusual for rhinos and elephants to fight over food, since elephants don’t usually eat grass. The massive drought must have led the poor animal to look for other sources of food.

Since elephants are way bigger than the rhinos, a little aggression gets them a long way with other animals, so they usually get what they want. However, with wildlife one can never be too sure how they will react, so this is one possible outcome.
