Bull Shark in River Frightens Boaties at Popular Fishing Spot

Boatie Jordan Butler and his mates got a shock during a trip on the Evans River at Iron Gates, Evans Head, on Saturday, November 5, when they spotted a large shark in the river.

“Was driving up the river when we saw a bull shark across the river, I pulled out my phone and another mate started driving closer to it, then the shark (disappeared) like nothing,” he told Storyful.

Evans Head is well known for shark sightings, with a <a href="http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/lifestyle/beaches-and-fishing/great-white-sharks-lurk-off-northern-nsw-coast-scaring-second-pair-of-surfers-out-of-water/news-story/31a550c0b2d8aff89ed0950c44aa98af" target="_blank">beach closed off to swimmers</a> in July, following reports of two great white sharks spotted lurking at Casuarina Beach.
