Man Detained in Melbourne After Trying to Enter Malaysia Airlines Cockpit

Rumble Kuala Lumpur-bound Malaysia Airlines flight MH128 was forced to return to Melbourne on May 31 after a male passenger attempted to enter the cockpit. Upon landing at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport, police entered the plane and apprehended the passenger, according to statements from both the airline and from Victoria Police. Police said the man was alleged to have “threatened the safety of passengers and staff.” The man was subdued and no passengers or staff were injured, police said. The video here shows the plane after returning to Melbourne Airport. Emergency services vehicles are at the scene, and passengers are seen boarding airport shuttle buses to be ferried to a terminal. Both Malaysia Airlines and Victoria Police said they were investigating the incident.
