Administrative Gun Handling - how much is too much?

Handling our guns can be a very good thing to do as we familiarize ourselves with our tools, but there is also such a thing as unnecessary administrative handling, and that can actually increase the likelihood of negative outcomes especially when done over a period of time.

So how do we differentiate between required administrative handling, and unnecessary administrative handling?
