Severe Flooding Hits Area West of Colombo, Sri Lanka

Parts of Sri Lanka were under water following one of the worst rains in over a decade, according to meteorology officials.

This video from May 27 shows floodwaters on streets of Kaduwela, a western suburb of the capital Colombo.

At least 122 people had been killed in flooding and landslides that affected more than 400,000 people, according to officials, <a href="" target="_blank">Reuters</a> reported. More than 2,000 troops were deployed in flood relief efforts. Sri Lanka had appealed for international assistance.
