A crocodile surprised Karumba locals on December 31 when it wandered onto the promenade in the early morning and decided to nap for the day.

Police and emergency services <a href="http://mypolice.qld.gov.au/blog/2017/01/01/now-thats-croc-aye-karumba/" target="_blank">constructed a wheelie bin and hay bale barricade</a> to hold the 3.5-metre reptile.

Experts were dispatched from Cairns, more than nine hours’ drive from Karumba, to relocate the croc.
