Two Men Dragged by Car As Driver Flees Arrest

Two police officers were reportedly dragged by a car when a driver fled the scene of an arrest on Friday, January 13.

According to <a href="http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/police-officer-allegedly-dragged-down-sydney-street-by-disqualified-driver-20170114-gtrj3f.html" target="_blank">this report</a> by the Sydney Morning Herald, police had stopped a sedan in Monfarville Street, St Marys, on Friday at 6.30pm and arrested the male driver, on suspicion that there was an outstanding warrant for the man.

While they were speaking, a passenger in the car moved to the driver’s seat and drove off, pulling both men to the ground in the process.

Police claimed one of the officers was <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4119324/Police-dragged-St-Marys-street-Sydney-speeding-car.html" target="_blank">dragged 20 metres</a> in the incident.

They said he was charged with using an offensive weapon to avoid detention and for driving while disqualified.
