Navy SEAL Dies After Parachute Fails to Open in Fleet Week Demonstration

A member of the US Navy <span class="caps">SEAL</span> parachute team, the Leap Frogs, died after his parachute failed to open during a Fleet Week event on May 28.

The incident occurred at a Memorial Day demonstration, according to reports from <a href="http://abc7ny.com/news/us-navy-seal-killed-in-accident-at-fleet-week-event-/2047521/" target="_blank"><span class="caps">WABC</span></a> and <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/navy-parachutist-dies-after-crash-during-fleet-week-demonstrations/ar-BBBBjY9" target="_blank"><span class="caps">MSN</span></a>. The <span class="caps">NAVY</span> SEAL’s parachute failed to open and he fell into the water near Jersey City’s Liberty State Park. His parachute separated from him and landed in a Jersey City parking lot, as seen in this footage taken by uploader Aaron Moss.

The parachutist was retrieved by the Coast Guard and sent to Jersey City Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, according to <a href="http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/05/28/parachutist-crash-lands-near-liberty-state-park/" target="_blank"><span class="caps">CBS</span></a>.
