In the Australian Outback the climate has created a merciless landscape that is as dangerous as it is beautiful. It’s also the only place in the country where an idea like the “Hot Toolbox Challenge” would ever be conceived.

The Degoumois boys work as building contractors in Tibooburra, almost 1200 kilometres northwest of Sydney in outback New South Wales. Temperatures in summer can soar to excruciating heights, and on this particular day it reached upwards of 45 degrees Celsius.

Cousins Clinton and Efan thought it was a brilliant opportunity to start a new and excruciating fad, whereby the challenger pulls down their trousers and places their raw behind on a hot metal surface. Neither last more than two seconds and both are left with cooked rumps after grilling themselves on their toolboxes.
