A koala named Heather has started to walk again after she was <a href="https://newswire.storyful.com/storylines/*/stories/159918?referred_from=Australia" target="_blank">found injured</a> on a Tanilba Bay road, unable to walk or climb.

Heather is an elderly koala, according to data found on a microchip on her body, and she took her time to start moving around again.

On Thursday, March 9, the team at Port Stephens Koalas published footage of Heather following a clump of gum leaves used as a kind of bait to encourage her to walk.

“After a couple of days rest and some good food we have made a little progress,” her keeper Sue said. “Let’s hope the improvement continues.”
