Firefighters Rescue Man Trapped in Burning Building in Massachusetts

An elderly man was rescued from a burning apartment building in Brockton, Massachusetts on March 28. Heather Holmes filmed the dramatic rescue as it happened.

Paul Mulloy, 82, was removed from a balcony on the third floor of the building. Mulloy was unable to get out on his own and sustained major injuries by the time firefighters arrived, according to <a href="http://www.fox25boston.com/news/firefighters-rescue-elderly-man-from-brockton-fire/506850525" target="_blank">local reports</a>. Mulloy’s family stated that the 82-year-old had burns on <a href="http://www.necn.com/news/new-england/Man-Rescued-From-Apartment-Fire-in-Brockton-Massachusetts-417366193.html" target="_blank">35 percent of his body</a>.

The firefighters involved in the rescue, Lieutenant Christopher O’Reilly and Firefighter Zachery Davis, suffered second-degree burns and were being <a href="http://www.necn.com/news/new-england/Man-Rescued-From-Apartment-Fire-in-Brockton-Massachusetts-417366193.html" target="_blank">treated at the hospital</a>.

The fire was reported by a passerby, according to Brockton Fire Deputy Chief Charles Davis. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
