Caracas Protesters Form Human Chain to Pull Injured Man From River

A man fell into the Guaire River in Caracas, Venezuela, after he was hit by a tear gas canister during protests on May 1, according to the photographer of this footage, José Aurrecoechea.

Two men waded into the water while several others linked arms on the riverbank.

The <a href="https://newswire.storyful.com/collections/venezuela-antigovernment-protests_2937" target="_blank">ongoing protests</a> against President Nicolas Maduro have been violently suppressed by the National Guard and police, with more than <a href="http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/04/26/525768310/dueling-rallies-rack-caracas-after-death-toll-inches-toward-30-in-venezuela" target="_blank">25 people killed</a> since the demonstrations began in late March.
