An elderly koala named Heather has successfully managed to scale a tree after spending nine weeks in rehabilitation that included acupuncture sessions, as seen in this video upload on on May 7. Heather first came into the care of rescuers at Port Stephens Koalas Sanctuary in March and was unable to move her legs. In April, she began acupuncture and steroid treatment with a local veterinarian to help her regain muscle mass. After two months of recovery Heather began climbing again under the watchful eyes of her carers. At first she slipped and almost came crashing down, but managed to recover and make it to the high branches.
