It’s the Ad seen around America, I’m talking about the controversial Pepsi ad! The ad debuted at the beginning of the week with Kendall Jenner fronting the campaign and well people are outraged by Pepsi and Kendall! People across the country find Pepsi’s ad insensitive to the civil rights movement, and making it seem like protests are the HOT thing in today’s culture. And the fact they used a reality TV and super model to get the message across, just enraged Americans even more! If you were going to do a commercial for a product as big as Pepsi, wouldn’t you ask a few questions before signing on the dotted line?? Aren’t we taught that at a young age, don’t forget to read the fine print? Well, Kendall’s name may have been cleared from the creative side of things, but now she’s getting chewed out for a comment she made in an interview prior to the commercial being released. She told WWD “The clip was filmed in Bangkok, I had never been so it was interesting to be in that city.” Okay, let’s stop there. Mashable made the valid point that protestors in Bangkok have been killed by riot police in the past. Hiccup number 1. She goes on to say, “It was fun, it was entertaining. The whole concept is really something that I’m about, so it was just fun to be a part of.” Something that I’m about… that’s the second hiccup that’s just digging her deeper and deeper into a hole. Clearly, there was a political statement to be made, but Kendall really hasn’t been outspoken when it comes to political or social issues. She encouraged people to vote and then posted a picture to pay tribute to the Women’s March, the picture posted was also posted by her sisters, so this has everyone asking if Kendall is just a political poser out to make a buck . I’ll let you make your own opinions, but I want to know what you think about Pepsi, Kendall and the commercial. Are you happy Kendall’s name was cleared of any creative involvement? Will this hurt her career in the future? Sound off in the comments below.
