It’s not easy being different. In a world where we like to fit in, where conformity is more valued than creativity, it’s not hard to see why.

Being unusual means being outside the norm, of requiring special attention – or at the very least, a more than standard response.

This is why organizations like Stand Tall 4 Dwarfism and the story of Quaden and his BFF Buddy. Now this isn’t the typical friendship – wait, actually it is.

A boy and his dog. A child born with achondroplasia and a senior pup suffering from a similar condition.

A vet asked the family if they would consider taking the nine-year-old dog in, and when they did, Quaden’s attitude changed instantly.

Before, he was dour and depressed. Now, he thinks dwarfism is “cool,” thanks in part to his four-legged support system.

While Quaden’s mom doesn’t blame people for not knowing how to deal with her child, she wishes they could see beyond the obvious to the joy that is deep inside his heart.

it’s clear Buddy has brought it out for all the world to see.
