“Dad, has that lamb got five legs?” Ten-year-old Zara Bayley saw the baby sheep running around at her family’s farm with an extra limb hanging on its side and now she has an unusual pet!

She was left stunned when she helped her dad deliver the baby lamb and noticed its mutation. The lamb, who was who was born at 6:30 am on Wednesday, March 15 2017 on the family farm in Derbyshire, is entirely healthy, except for the extra leg. Now Zara and her older brother Jake, age 12, have named the lamb Forest and persuaded their dad to keep him as a pet!

Their dad Mark, who is the director at Mark Bayley Lt., says: “'We were amazed and couldn't believe it. I have never seen anything like it. I went out to look after the lambs as they were being born and my daughter Zara was with me.“ The lamb was ignorant of his condition and appeared to be living his life on the farm.

According to mark, the lamb’s fifth leg has caused a bit of a stir with the other lambs. “I was sat watching the lambs yesterday and Forest was happily playing with the rest of them” said the farmer. “There was one lamb that looked at Forest, and then down at itself, as if to wonder why it was missing a leg. “It was very sweet.”

The only problem with this lamb might be his name, as Forest is the name of Derbyshire’s soccer rivals from Nottingham.
