Strombolian Explosions at Mount Etna's Southeast Crater

The Mount Etna volcano in Italy has been active since January 23 and Strombolian explosions have been rocking its Southeast Crater. Geologist Boris Behncke captured this video of a sequence of eruptions on Wednesday, February 22. The volcano has been erupting for more than a month and this activity, though rather minor, is often more ash-rich. This week’s eruptions, however, produced very little ash, Behncke said.
