Wildfires continued to burn on the slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain on Tuesday, January 17.

This video is described as showing Cape Town Fire Services and volunteers battling the blaze at the foot of the mountain.

The wildfires, which authorities suspect were started intentionally, were first reported on Monday evening and continued through Wednesday, prompting the South African Weather Service to issue an extremely high fire danger warning for the Northern Cape, West Coast District, Cape Winelands, Central and Little Karoo, the Eden District of the Western Cape and northwestern interior of the Eastern Cape areas, according to local media.

Some residents voluntarily left the area, as fire services worked to keep the blaze from spreading to the nearby towns of Oranjezicht and Vredehoek.
