Protesters marched in Seoul, South Korea, on December 3, gathering near the presidential Blue House to demand President Park Geun-hye step down.

Opposition parties filed an <a href="http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2016/12/03/asia-pacific/politics-diplomacy-asia-pacific/south-korea-opposition-files-impeachment-motion-protesters-gather-sixth-straight-week/#.WEKE6OaLSHs" target="_blank">impeachment motion</a> against Park on that date, which is set to be voted on on December 9.

Park on November 29 said she would step down, but left the details to parliament.

The country has seen six weeks of protests amid a corruption scandal.
