16 Reported Dead as More Than 1,000 Migrants Rescued in the Mediterranean

Rumble Over 1,000 migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean Sea between Sunday, December 4, and Monday, December 5, the Italian Coast Guard said. The crews also discovered 16 bodies on Sunday.

The Italian Coast Guard ran nine rescue operations on Sunday, they said, recovering 791 people and 16 bodies. On Monday, 231 more people were rescued in four different operations.
