Women dressed as sausages were removed from the red carpet event that preceded the 6th Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards on December 7, where they staged a protest against perceived gender bias in the nominations.

Footage, published to Twitter by a reporter for student magazine Honi Soit, shows security personnel marching some of the protesters from the event, as they shout “end the sausage fest!”

The protesters are members of Women in Film and Television <span class="caps">NSW</span>. They were <a href="http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/awards/end-the-sausage-party-group-of-females-dressed-as-sausages-crash-the-aacta-awards-red-carpet/news-story/75457f3429c72b142ae88dbfe86dabd6" target="_blank">forcefully ejected from the red carpet</a> after resisting attempts by security to remove them.

“We’re really calling on <span class="caps">AACTA</span> to serve up some more transparency in their really poor gender performance,” one protester <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-12-07/&#39;sausage-party&#39;-protesters-storm-aactas-red-carpet/8101342" target="_blank">said</a>.
