Raul Hinojosa, known by his family and friends as Tiny, wanted one last thing before he passed from leukemia: to marry his fiancee, Yvonne Lamas.

On December 9 their families dropped everything, got Yvonne a dress, and made the wedding happen at Tiny’s bedside at the hospital in Amarillo, Texas. Tiny passed away the next day on December 10, only 36 hours later.

In an interview with CNN, Lamas said that Hinojosa proposed in 2007, but they had been waiting to marry. “He was determined to give me the best fairytale wedding,” Lamas said. “He tried saving up, but within that time he ended up getting diagnosed with the leukemia.”

From Domingo and Lita Rodriguez, family members: “Yvonne had 3 girls when she met Tiny (that he has loved as his own) and Tiny had 1 girl, Kylie, and they together have a son, Jovan. His daughter Kylie did not make it in time to the wedding, but never left his side until the end.”
