Hundreds of people, many of them children, evacuated from rebel-held parts of Aleppo on December 19 were met with food and medical care as they arrived in the countryside to the west of the city.

Convoys of vehicles continued to move in and out of rebel-held areas in Aleppo on that date, with reports of about 50 buses making the journey.

The evacuations came amid cold weather, with freezing conditions reported in the city overnight.

Bana Alabed, a Syrian girl and the focus of an activist Twitter account run by her mother, Fatemah, from rebel-held areas in Aleppo, was among the arrivals on that date. A girl wearing the same striped woolly hat and dark coat can be seen briefly in this video from 37 seconds.
