Andrei Karlov, Russia’s ambassador to Turkey, was shot by an unknown gunman at an art exhibition opening in the Turkish capital Ankara on Monday evening, December 19.

<a href="http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/son-dakika-rusya-buyukelcisi-ankarada-silahli-suikasta-ugradi-40311678" target="_blank">According to Turkish news media</a>, the shooting occurred following a speech by Karlov at the Contemporary Arts Center. The embassy tweeted about <a href="https://twitter.com/RusEmbTurkey/status/808402902960185345" target="_blank">the event</a> on December 12.

The file footage and images here show Karlov presenting his credentials from the then Turkish President Abdullah Gül in 2013, and attending various events as part of his work in Turkey.
