Cargo Planes Crashes Shortly After Takeoff From Colombia's Puerto Carreno Airport

A cargo plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the southern Colombian city of Puerto Carreno killing five and injuring one crew member on Tuesday, December 20.

Colombia’s <a href="" target="_blank">Noticias Caracol</a> reported that the Aerosucre Boeing 727-200 crashed around five miles from Puerto Carreno’s German Olano Airport on a flight bound for the Colombian capitol, Bogota. Dramatic video from Puerto Carreno resident Yurlan Falla showed the plane skimming the fence surrounding the airfield.

The flight technician Diego Armando Vargas Bravo survived the crash and was transferred to the San Juan de Dios Municipal Hospital for treatment, according to a statement from <a href="" target="_blank">Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority</a>. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
