Rumble An explosion, the cause of which was unclear, was heard near a Christmas celebration in western Aleppo on December 20, according to <a href="https://www.rt.com/news/371042-explosion-christmas-celebrations-aleppo/" target="_blank">reports</a>.

A crowd had gathered at al-Azizieh Square for a <a href="http://sana.sy/en/?p=96763" target="_blank">tree-lighting ceremony</a>, where a band in Santa-uniforms played Christmas music. These videos show the celebrations before the reported explosion.

Evacuations from rebel-held areas in the city’s east continued on that date, as pro-government forces prepared to regain total control of the city.
