Italian police and officials reported on December 23 that Anis Amri, the suspect in the Berlin truck attack in which 12 people were killed, was shot dead in Milan.

Amri was reportedly confronted by police in Sesto San Giovanni, who asked him to produce his paperwork. He opened fire on police, who shot back, killing him. One officer was injured in the shootout.

According to <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-truck-idUSKBN14C0JP?il=0" target="_blank">Reuters</a>, Italian interior minister Marco Minniti told a news conference that “without any shadow of a doubt” the man was Amri.
