Rumble Less than 24 hours after Syrian state-run media announced the completion of evacuations Aleppo on December 22, Syrian rebel commander Aiman Mohammad issued a stern warning to Iranian and Syrian forces in Aleppo, vowing that “victory is coming soon.”

Lieutenant Aiman Mohammad is the head of the Free Syrian Army’s Jaish al-Nasr – a member of the Jaish al-Fateh rebel coalition operating in the Aleppo Province – spoke from the Bashkoy District, located almost 13 miles north of the city of Aleppo.

“These are our fighters. They are holding the frontlines in rural Aleppo despite the harsh weather and freezing cold that you can see here,” Mohammad said.

“I am directing this message to the Assad regime and the Iranian militias, to say that we are steadfast and firm on this [Bashkoy] front, no matter how difficult the weather conditions are on us. We are ready to defend against any attacks from the Iranian militias supporting Assad’s forces. I send greetings to all Syrian rebels, wherever they are, on the fronts of honor and pride. We say to them, victory is coming, victory is coming to us soon.”

His statements emerged amidst opposition reports that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps has deployed a number of forces near Bashkoy in preparation for a major ground offensive on the village and its surrounding environs.
