Roads were closed and severe weather warnings issued on Tuesday, December 27, after heavy rain fell across the Kimberley region of Western Australia for more than two days.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued flood warnings on Tuesday after advising the Fitzroy River had peaked at 11 metres late on Monday.

On December 26 residents in some areas were warned to prepare for flooding and possible evacuation of their homes, while police announced via a Facebook post that roads had been closed across the Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community, about 190km south of Broome.
