Peru’s Ingemmet agency has issued a warning to residents living in the vicinity of the Sabancaya Volcano after a new explosion was detected from the Andean stratovolcano on December 26.

A column of ash and steam rose 2.1 miles above the volcano, which is located around 60 miles north of the southern Peruvian city of Arequipa, following Monday’s explosion, according to a report from Ingemmet.
